Youth Pioneer Trek in Wyoming

My husband and I had the opportunity to be asked to go on a pioneer trek in Wyoming with some of the youth from my church. My husband was asked to help with equipment, setting up camp, and lots of other fun tasks. I was asked to photograph the experience and record in a journal all of our experiences. What an amazing adventure this was. Our first night there, we have between 65-70mph winds. My husband and my tent broke as we were trying to get it up. At one point, we saw men racing to catch a runaway tent. Through the night, many of the tents collapsed on the kids but everyone tried to get as good of sleep as they could. Because of the crazy winds, I didn't have my professional camera out as much as I would have hoped, but here is some of what I did take. It is absolutely gorgeous there and the clouds are so stunning they look fake. You will see in some of the pictures there is a white dog that is following alongside the group. He usually picks a trek group to walk with, has been known to chase coyotes out of people's camp, and even has been found to lay down in the middle of the trail to keep people from walking right where a rattle snake is. I guess you could say he is a little guardian angel for those lucky enough to have him walk with them. This was one of the best experiences I have ever had in my life. I cannot imagine, although we got a slight glimpse, what these people went through who crossed the plains. It really was amazing. Enjoy and hopefully I will have time to post more soon!
